They say that history often repeats itself, and — when it comes to the beauty trends taking over our timelines today — truer words have never been spoken. Over the last few years we've seen celebrities and influencers repopularize some of the biggest trends from the '90s and early 2000s that, up until recently, were dismissed for being cringe-y or cheesy.

"Y2K beauty," as it's called, puts a modern spin on the frosty eyeshadows, ombré lips, and hair clips of yore, and it's made such a big impact among beauty enthusiasts on TikTok and Instagram that now some of our favorite beauty brands are also taking part. (Even celebs from the time like Hayley Williams have taken notice.)

Even brands like ColourPop, BH Cosmetics, and NYX Professional Makeup, to make a few, have released dedicated Y2K-inspired beauty collections as a nod to trends of the past, and most of the products are still available to shop. To take a trip back in time and add some nostalgia to your makeup bag, read ahead to shop some must-have Y2K makeup products.

Butterfly Clips

Assorted Butterfly Hair Clips ($7)

Let's be real: no Y2K beauty look is complete without the addition of a few butterfly clips. The colorful hair accessories are perfect for elevating any simple outfit, and they're sure to get you lots of compliments — or at least questions as to where you bought them. This pack comes with 50 different pieces in an array of different colors.

Face Gems

Face Gems

Teenitor Face Gems ($6)

We're not saying you should start wearing face gems every time you leave the house, but we're not saying you shouldn't start doing that, either. They were a huge hit back in the '00s, and they're an easy way to add a little pizzazz to any makeup look. Pop one on each corner of your eye and you're ready to go.

Claw Clips

Claw Clips

Tocess 8 Pack Hair Claw Clips ($8)

Claw clips were the "it" hair accessory back in the day, but they've made a resurgence in recent years. They're a great way to pin up your hair and make it look effortless. This option comes with eight different clips in an array of different colors, so you'll have an option for every outfit in your closet.

Juicy Lip Gloss

Juicy Lip Gloss

Lancôme Juicy Tubes ($25)

Lancôme's Juicy Tubes were the go-to lip product in the 2000s, and we totally get why. The product comes in ten different shades that will leave your mouth hydrated, slick, and just the right amount of "sticky." It was a hit then, and it's a hit now.

French Tip Press-On Nails

French Tip Press-On Nails

Kiss Products Fake Nails ($7)

Nothing says Y2K like a squared-off french manicure. If you aren't ready to hit the nail salon and commit to the look full time, you can alway go the press-on option with these Kiss Fake Nails in the shade sugar rush. Pop them on for a fun night out and take them off easily whenever you're tired of them.

Metallic Eyeshadow

Metallic Eyeshadow

E.l.f. Liquid Metallic Eyeshadow ($6)

Metallic eyeshadow was a staple Y2K beauty product, but the formulas have gotten way better and a lot more long lasting. This pick from E.l.f. comes in three different fun shades, but our favorite is Moon, a gold hue that will look good paired with any eye color.
