"Summer House"'s Ciara Miller Doesn't Want Your Opinion on Her Natural Hair

Like much of the "Summer House" cast, Ciara Miller leads a double (technically triple) life. "Aside from being on reality TV, I work as a nurse and model," Miller tells PS. The TV personality has been a part of "Summer House" for three years, and fans have watched her juggle life in New York City and, more recently, her first public relationship with castmate West Wilson (though it came to an end in December). "I'm a hopeless romantic," Miller says, as she explains her views on love. "I value relationships and respect and I want to keep people around me that do the same."

While she hasn't quite shared whether she'd allow a relationship to play out publicly on TV ever again, Miller did share a few of her favorite things about being a TV personality — namely, being able to represent Black women in the entertainment space. "I love trading advice and if another Black woman came up to me and asked for tips on how to survive a show like 'Summer House,' I'd have a laundry list of things ready for her," Miller says. First on the list? A solid makeup routine. "I'd tell her that she's going to need to find a good primer and setting spray," Miller says. "We need something that'll hold that makeup in place in the heat. She'd also need some really good hair products."

For Miller, and most Black women, regardless of whether they're on TV or not, hair is a big deal. "I catch a lot of slack from people because of the fact that I don't wear my natural hair on TV super often," Miller says. But this decision is because she's trying to preserve her hair with protective styles like sew-ins and wigs. "I'm in pools, I'm in the heat and humidity, and sometimes I have 20 minutes to get ready," she says. "I have no time to actually do anything when it comes to styling, so I have to think about how best to keep my hair healthy and thriving, and the easiest way to do that for me is to wear these styles."

The exact date that season nine of "Summer House" is set to premiere hasn't yet been released, but Miller has been confirmed to be a returning cast member. With her vow to keep "good people" around her, we're sure to be in for a treat as she navigates the house post-West and continues to find her footing in reality TV.
